New Chicken Coop

Thanks to Kevin, Ken and Kelly we got a few wood pallets from various scources.  All free for the taking so we decided that a few of the pallets would make a perfect chicken coop.

The two sides (walls) are from a local glass company.  We recaimed lots of 2x6s from pallets that came from cell phone tower and antenna boxes.

Here is another view of the "concept' coop design.

We then decided that we should build the coop on a concrete slab.  Ken helped us build the form and Dolly and I filled it with some of the many stones we have on the farm.

Here is another view.  The small cinder block building in the rear is the former smoke house but we're going to use it to house of few turkeys - but that's another project :-)

Old door I found in one of our out buildings.  I mounted it upside down as I liked it better and the door knob (porcelain of course) was a bit higher.  I think farmers were shorter many years ago.  PIcture to the left shows old six pane windows we found on our way to have some of our roosters processed with the local Menonites.

Move in Day!!!
